PalmCo Utilizes Two Biogas Power Plants to Reduce Energy Costs Amid Global Price Instability
PalmCo's implementation of two biogas power plants has successfully reduced reliance on fossil fuels and lowered operational costs by approximately Rp 39.5 billion over three years. This strategy not only addresses energy price volatility but also aligns with sustainability goals, showcasing a viable model for the plantation sector.

PalmCo operates two biogas power plants, PLTBg Terantam and PLTBg Tandun, which utilize Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) to generate renewable energy, significantly reducing the use of diesel generators. From 2023 to 2025, diesel consumption was reduced by over 2.6 million liters, demonstrating a substantial operational cost saving.
The company reported energy savings totaling around Rp 39.5 billion in the last three years. This long-term strategy reflects a commitment to sustainability, converting waste into valuable energy and contributing to emission reductions. PalmCo's model may serve as a reference for other plantation industries in addressing similar challenges.
