PGE Prepares Infrastructure for 55 MW Lumut Balai Unit 3 Geothermal Power Plant in South Sumatra
PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) is preparing infrastructure for the Lumut Balai Unit 3 geothermal power plant in South Sumatra, with a capacity of 55 MW. Drilling is scheduled to begin in Q2 2026. The project is currently in the infrastructure preparation stage at Cluster 19 and Cluster E, with contracts signed for well pad construction and access roads. Construction mobilization started in February 2026 to ensure operational readiness prior to drilling. This project supports PGE's strategy to enhance national geothermal capacity.

Contracts for constructing well pads and access roads have been signed to facilitate heavy equipment mobility during drilling. Construction crews and equipment mobilization began in February 2026. This project aligns with PGE's strategy to increase national geothermal capacity and is part of the RUPTL 2025-2034 and prioritized in the Ministry of Planning's Blue Book 2025-2029. PGE currently manages a total installed capacity of 727 MW across six operational areas.
