Pimpri-Chinchwad to Receive Additional 100 MLD Water Supply from Pavana Dam
The Maharashtra water resources minister approved an additional 100 MLD water supply from Pavana dam to address the water shortage in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The city, facing a growing population of 3.7 million, currently utilizes 8.38 TMC (650 MLD) annually. Measures also include permanent land transfer for infrastructure development to enhance the water supply system.

Maharashtra's water resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil approved an additional 100 MLD water supply from Pavana dam to address water shortages in Pimpri-Chinchwad. This decision followed a discussion prompted by MLA Shankar Jagtap regarding the city's insufficient water supply for its population of nearly 3.7 million, which currently consumes 8.38 TMC (650 MLD) annually.
The meeting also sanctioned the permanent transfer of 0.95 hectares of land in Mauje Shire for infrastructure development, including a jackwell and pump house, to facilitate direct water supply. Additional provisions were made to utilize water from the Bhama Askhed project.
