Planning Inspectorate Approves Anaerobic Digestion Complex in Lancashire, Overruling Local Council
The Planning Inspectorate has approved an anaerobic digestion complex in Lancashire, overturning a previous refusal by the County Council. WCK Farming aims to build a biogas facility capable of processing 300,000 tonnes of agricultural byproducts annually. Despite concerns about the project's impact on the Green Belt, benefits such as renewable energy generation and job creation were deemed significant enough to allow the appeal. Meanwhile, Manor Farm Propco's proposal for a data center at Manor Farm faces scrutiny due to its Green Belt designation.

The Planning Inspectorate has approved an anaerobic digestion complex by WCK Farming in Lancashire after the County Council's refusal. The facility will process 300,000 tonnes of agricultural byproducts annually, producing biomethane and fertilizer.
Despite the inspector noting significant harm to the Green Belt, the project's contribution to renewable energy and job creation led to the approval. Separately, Manor Farm Propco appealed for planning permission for a data center at Manor Farm, which faces rejection from Slough Borough Council due to its Green Belt status. The case was called in by Secretary of State Steve Reed for a final decision.
