Praj Industries Demonstrates Ethanol-to-Jet Pathway for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Using Axens Technology
Praj Industries has successfully demonstrated its Ethanol-to-Jet process using Axens Jetanol™ technology at its SAF demonstration plant, marking a significant step in sustainable aviation fuel production. Announced at Wings India 2026, the initiative supports India's potential to produce 16-19 billion liters of SAF by 2040, positioning the country as a competitive global export hub. A Memorandum of Understanding among Praj, IATA, and ISMA aims to ensure SAF certification and lifecycle assessment using Indian sugarcane feedstock.

Praj Industries has demonstrated its Ethanol-to-Jet (EtJ) process using Axens Jetanol™ technology at its Integrated Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) demonstration plant at Praj Matrix. This milestone was announced at Wings India 2026 by Maneesh Kumar of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, highlighting the plant's readiness to utilize both bio-isobutanol and bio-ethanol as feedstocks.
Praj is the first company to offer a fully integrated Alcohol-to-Jet technology solution, ready for commercial deployment and compliant with ASTM D7566 standards. The initiative aims to support India's SAF production, enhancing energy security and decarbonization efforts in aviation.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Praj, IATA, and ISMA focuses on SAF certification and lifecycle assessment from Indian sugarcane feedstock. India's SAF production potential could reach 16-19 billion liters by 2040, positioning it as a competitive global SAF export hub.
