Protests Erupt Against Kushner's Hotel Project in Belgrade
Hundreds protested a redevelopment plan for a former army headquarters in Belgrade linked to Jared Kushner. The project, classified as urgent by parliament, has raised concerns due to its historical significance and alleged irregularities in the permit process.

On Tuesday, hundreds protested against a luxury hotel complex project in Belgrade associated with Jared Kushner, who holds a 99-year lease on the former army headquarters site. The Serbian parliament recently expedited permits for the redevelopment, citing it as an urgent project, despite the site's historical significance as a target during NATO strikes in the Kosovo war.
In May, investigations were launched regarding potential falsifications in documents that lifted the site's protected status. President Aleksandar Vucic defended the project, highlighting a proposed investment of at least 650 million euros, asserting it would enhance Belgrade's value and tourism. However, public dissatisfaction remains high, particularly linked to perceived corruption within the government.
