PSO has begun a significant infrastructure improvement project for high-voltage transmission lines in south Tulsa. The project involves replacing wooden power poles with steel structures, designed to withstand stronger winds, particularly in response to past storm impacts that left 200,000 customers without power.
The upgrade will span around 10 miles from the Hudson substation by LaFortune Park to the Jenks area. Construction has started on Hudson Avenue, east of LaFortune Park, with anticipated lane closures over the next few months. The entire project duration is expected to be approximately one year.
