PSPCL Advances ₹100 Crore Substation Project to Reduce Power Outages in Ludhiana
The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is progressing on a ₹100-crore project aimed at reducing power outages in Ludhiana. The utility has started land acquisition and groundwork for nine new 66kV substations, responding to increasing electricity demand. Key sites include Dana Mandi in Sunder Nagar and Sector 32, with significant purchases reported below market value. The project faces scrutiny over delays and transparency in land valuation but aims to alleviate load pressure on overburdened areas as summer demand rises.

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is implementing a ₹100-crore plan to reduce power outages in Ludhiana by constructing nine new 66kV substations. Land acquisition is underway, with 2,609.635 square yards secured in Dana Mandi at ₹27,000 per square yard and 3,500 square yards in Sector 32 at ₹25,000 per square yard.
Some land parcels have been acquired at significantly lower rates compared to market values. The project is complex, involving multiple government agencies. Officials expect the substations to alleviate load on overloaded infrastructure, although concerns about execution delays remain.
