PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Advances Community Empowerment and Decarbonization Initiatives
PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) implements geothermal-based initiatives that enhance community welfare and contribute to national decarbonization efforts. Key programs like KANYAAH and STREAM not only optimize geothermal resources but also demonstrate significant environmental benefits, showcasing a model for sustainable energy utilization.

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) has launched several geothermal initiatives aimed at community welfare and environmental sustainability, including the KANYAAH program, which integrates agriculture and aquaculture. The program has produced 193.8 tons of organic fertilizer and achieved a Social Return on Investment (SROI) of 5.10 across 12.34 hectares, benefiting 4,397 individuals with a reported income of Rp3.08 billion.
Additionally, the Ulubelu area, with a capacity of 220 MW, has implemented the STREAM innovation, decreasing emissions by 28,513 tons CO₂e. These efforts position PGE as a leader in the green energy sector and support Indonesia's food security and energy independence goals. The continued success of these projects may inspire further adoption of geothermal energy solutions across other sectors.
