Raízen Files for Extrajudicial Recovery to Restructure R$ 65 Billion Debt
Raízen has filed for extrajudicial recovery to renegotiate approximately R$ 65 billion in debt. The company seeks creditor support for plan approval while maintaining normal operations. Raízen, a joint venture between Cosan and Shell since 2011, operates in energy production, including sugar and ethanol, and fuel distribution in Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.

Raízen has requested extrajudicial recovery to restructure R$ 65 billion in debt, seeking creditor support for court plan approval. Despite the filing, the company confirmed that its operations continue as usual.
Established in 2011 through a joint venture between Cosan and Shell, Raízen integrates sugar and ethanol production with fuel distribution. The company operates in Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, managing Shell-branded fuels and convenience stores. Raízen has invested in energy transition projects, including solar power and biogas production, and employs over 46,000 staff across 1.3 million hectares of sugarcane cultivation.
