Refinity Secures Exclusive License from PNNL for Waste Plastic-to-Fuel Technology
Refinity has obtained an exclusive license from PNNL to utilize technology for converting waste plastic into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This advancement aids in addressing feedstock limitations and enhances the production of circular hydrocarbons.

Refinity has secured an exclusive license from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for technology that converts waste plastic-derived light olefins into distillate-range products, facilitating the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. The company is developing an integrated process to convert polyolefin-rich mixed plastic waste into circular olefins, aiming for yields above 50%.
By the end of 2026, Refinity plans to demonstrate an end-to-end conversion process that supports fuel testing and qualification. This technology could mitigate reliance on traditional bio-based feedstocks and help alleviate plastic waste disposal challenges.
