The REWE Group is introducing hydroponically grown salad mixes, starting with 'Crispy Mix' in Bavaria. This initiative, in collaboration with Gemüsebau Steiner, utilizes water basins for resource-efficient lettuce cultivation year-round. The project, named 'Endless Summer', spans four hectares and employs geothermal energy, saving approximately 3,000 tons of CO₂ annually. Additional varieties will be rolled out in REWE and PENNY stores, emphasizing quality and sustainability in vegetable production.

The REWE Group has launched hydroponically grown salad mixes, beginning with 'Crispy Mix' available in all Bavaria stores. This initiative, part of the 'Endless Summer' project in partnership with Gemüsebau Steiner, involves cultivating leaf lettuce in water basins for year-round growth.
The method is resource-efficient, saving 90% in water use and eliminating pesticides. The project utilizes four hectares of greenhouses heated by geothermal energy, reducing CO₂ emissions by 3,000 tons annually. Following the initial launch, additional varieties will be introduced in other regions and PENNY stores starting in early April.
