Right-of-Way Issues Delay Completion of 624MW Abuja Power Scheme by TCN
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the completion of the 624-megawatt Abuja Feeding Scheme is stalled due to ongoing right-of-way (RoW) issues. The project, which is 91% complete, is intended to improve electricity supply in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and consists of five substations and associated transmission lines.
TCN has identified significant setbacks along transmission routes, particularly near Wumba. Two substations are ready for energization, but delays at key points hinder supply extension. TCN calls for government intervention to address resistance from individuals obstructing approved routes. The project includes thirteen 60MVA transformers for a total capacity of approximately 624 megawatts.
