Royal Navy Conducts C-ROTV Trials in Denmark for Underwater Survey Operations
The Royal Navy's Hydrographic eXploitation Group conducted at-sea trials of the C-ROTV system in Denmark, marking a step towards hybrid naval operations. This initiative involves the deployment of the ScanFish oceanographic survey system, enhancing remote underwater survey capabilities.

The Royal Navy's Hydrographic eXploitation Group Teams 5 and 6 tested the containerised remotely operated towed vehicle (C-ROTV) system aboard the RV Aurora in Denmark. The trials included launching and recovering the ScanFish, equipped with sensors for oceanographic data collection, operating at depths up to 1,000 metres.
Preparation involved maintenance at EIVA's facility and handling the 800kg vehicle before deployment. Integration tasks included setting up GPS and monitoring systems. The series of tests concluded with an emergency ascent drill. These developments indicate a strategic advancement in remote underwater survey capabilities and could enhance operational efficiency in naval missions.
