Russia's Giga Turtle Tanks: An Armored Innovation in Ukraine
The Giga Turtle tank, derived from the T-72B3M, is being developed by Russia's 4th Motor Rifle Brigade to counter Ukraine's drone warfare. Its design includes added armor, infantry support features, and jammers, but its effectiveness remains questionable as assaults near Kostiantynivka have failed.

The Giga Turtle, a modified T-72B3M tank, has been introduced by Russia's 4th Motor Rifle Brigade in response to the challenges posed by Ukrainian drones. Enhancements include metal plating, spines, and protective features like jammers and mine detonation rollers.
Despite these modifications, the Giga Turtle has proven ineffective in advancing against Ukrainian positions, particularly in Kostiantynivka and Lyman, where earlier assaults failed. The ongoing struggle between armored vehicles and anti-tank technology emphasizes that increased weight and size can hinder mobility, leading to operational challenges. The Army's focus is shifting towards integrating anti-drone systems and AI into future prototypes to maintain combat effectiveness while managing weight.
