Safe Bulkers, Inc. to Acquire Two New Kamsarmax Class Vessels from China for Delivery in 2028 and 2029
Safe Bulkers, Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire two newbuild Kamsarmax class vessels from China, each with a deadweight tonnage of 82,500, scheduled for delivery in Q3 2028 and Q1 2029. The vessels will comply with the IMO GHG-EEDI Phase 3 and NOx-Tier III emissions regulations.
This acquisition increases Safe Bulkers' orderbook to eight newbuild vessels, including two methanol dual-fuel vessels. The delivery schedule includes four vessels in 2026, two in 2027, one in 2028, and one in 2029.
The company has already taken delivery of twelve vessels meeting the same environmental standards. Safe Bulkers reported Q3 2025 earnings of $0.12 per share and revenue of $73.1 million, exceeding analyst expectations. The company has also announced a share repurchase program for up to 10 million shares, reflecting its financial strategies and performance.
