Sen. Cassidy and Rep. Letlow Seek FEMA Funding for Winter Storm Relief in Louisiana

POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy and U.S. Representative Julia Letlow are collaborating with local leaders to secure FEMA funding following the January winter ice storm in Louisiana.

Letlow highlighted the need for strong partnership with the state, acknowledging the governor's efforts in requesting assistance. Cassidy has communicated with local officials about financial needs, including support for individuals who lost groceries, wages, or childcare due to school closures.

He aims to increase FEMA assistance from Category 3 to Category 4. Cassidy mentioned potential federal funds from the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which includes $3 billion for grid hardening in Louisiana.

Letlow, who opposed the bill, emphasized the importance of timely implementation of such funds to enhance the power grid's resilience. Both officials urge constituents to be patient as the process for obtaining aid unfolds.
