Siemens Partners with Caphenia to Scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production
Siemens and Caphenia have partnered to enhance the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) using Caphenia's plasma technology. Siemens will provide automation and digital solutions to standardize processes for global commercial production. Caphenia's Plasma Boudouard Reactor (PBR) converts biomethane into synthesis gas for SAF production, achieving over 86% process efficiency. The collaboration aims to accelerate the industrial scalability of SAF technology.
Siemens and Caphenia are collaborating to scale the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) derived from renewable feedstocks. Siemens, as the preferred automation and digitalization partner, will support Caphenia's plasma technology, which converts biomethane into synthesis gas at high temperatures.
Caphenia's Plasma Boudouard Reactor (PBR) integrates three chemical reactions into one system, producing SAF with no by-products. The partnership aims to establish a standardised automation template for SAF production, enhancing process efficiency and reducing commissioning time. Siemens will utilize its Xcelerator portfolio to optimize operational parameters and support Caphenia's scale-up from a pilot plant in Höchst, Germany.
