Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association Launches Photonics Committee and Talent Partnerships
The SSIA has established a photonics committee to enhance regional collaboration in integrated photonics. This initiative aims to address workforce needs and strengthen Singapore's semiconductor ecosystem amid rising global demand.

The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) has introduced a photonics committee to bolster partnerships within the semiconductor ecosystem. This initiative is part of the broader Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 (RIE2030) plan, which includes a commitment of S$800 million to enhance capabilities in advanced technologies.
Additionally, SSIA formalized partnerships with NTUC LearningHub to support workforce development and with SGInnovate to create a talent pipeline in deep-tech sectors. A memorandum was also signed with the India Cellular and Electronics Association to strengthen the semiconductor corridor between Singapore and India. The semiconductor sector is critical to Singapore’s economy, accounting for 20% of manufacturing output and 6% of GDP, with significant investments attracting over S$30 billion in recent years.
