POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION

The Slovenian government has approved nearly €59 million for power grid modernization to support higher demand and renewable energy expansion. Contracts signed on 9 March cover six upgrade projects co-financed by the EU's Modernisation Fund, totaling almost €174 million.

The projects aim to improve the electricity network's capacity and reliability. Major investments include urban network upgrades by Elektro Ljubljana and critical infrastructure enhancements by Elektro Gorenjska.

ELES will underground a 110-kilovolt line, while Elektro Maribor and Elektro Primorska will construct new transmission lines and upgrade substations. Long-term, Slovenia requires nearly €4 billion for distribution network investments by 2034.
