SM Investments Corporation reported that renewable energy will comprise 31% of its electricity consumption in 2025, up from 27% in the prior year. The group sourced approximately 730 million kilowatt-hours from renewable sources, preventing more than 370,644 metric tons of carbon emissions.
The transition is primarily facilitated by its subsidiary, Philippine Geothermal Production Company, which operates geothermal fields generating up to 400 megawatts of clean electricity. Additionally, upcoming projects could add another 400 megawatts.
SM Prime Holdings has deployed over 200,000 solar panels across its properties. BDO Unibank financed sustainable projects worth 1.21 trillion pesos, including renewable energy initiatives.
