SMSVC Marks 10 Years of Innovation in Steel Manufacturing
The Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium (SMSVC) celebrates a decade of innovation enhancing efficiencies in steel manufacturing and energy production. This consortium, led by Purdue University Northwest's Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation, leverages advanced simulation, AI, and visualization technologies across 16 member companies.

The Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium (SMSVC) has reached its 10-year milestone, focusing on advancing efficiencies for steel manufacturing and energy production. The consortium, consisting of 16 member companies, utilizes simulation, visualization, and artificial intelligence to tackle industry challenges and foster growth.
Notably, SMSVC has developed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models simulating various steelmaking processes, including blast furnace and electric arc furnace operations. Their collaborative model integrates CFD, augmented reality, and AI for creating 3-D digital twins and training tools, enhancing workforce development and operational guidance. This partnership exemplifies the impact of academia and industry collaboration on innovation and economic development.
