South Korea and Taiwan Implement Economic Reforms for Future Growth
South Korea will establish a Future Response Fund to invest in youth employment and emerging industries, while Taiwan's government has approved pay raises for public-sector workers. These initiatives aim to bolster national competitiveness and address inequality, highlighting the importance of equitable economic growth.

The South Korean government plans to allocate additional tax revenue from its semiconductor sector into a Future Response Fund focused on youth employment and emerging industries. Concurrently, Taiwan's Cabinet has authorized pay increases for military personnel, civil servants, and public school educators, reflecting the government's intent to ensure public-sector employees benefit from economic growth.
Taiwan's economy is projected to grow by 9.64% this year, marking the highest rate in 16 years, emphasizing the need for equitable compensation in public services. Establishing a salary review mechanism that considers the Consumer Price Index and includes public-sector representatives could strengthen public confidence in the policymaking process. Additionally, reforms should extend to educators in private and early childhood institutions to address pay disparities, thus enhancing the overall resilience and appeal of the public-service sector.
