Space Forge Completes National Microgravity Research Centre Funded by UK Space Agency
Space Forge has completed the National Microgravity Research Centre (NMRC) in Swansea, UK, as part of a £13m program funded by the UK Space Agency. The centre will support Space Forge's semiconductor manufacturing efforts, utilizing microgravity conditions to enhance material properties. Space Forge's CEO emphasizes the facility's potential to advance microgravity materials and strengthen the UK's semiconductor capabilities.

Space Forge has announced the completion of the National Microgravity Research Centre (NMRC) in Swansea, UK, as part of a £13 million program funded by the UK Space Agency. Located at the Centre for Integrative Semiconductor Materials (CISM), the NMRC is designed to support Space Forge's hybrid manufacturing model.
The facility will enable the scaling of semiconductor seed wafers grown in low Earth orbit. Space Forge previously launched the ForgeStar-1 satellite in June 2025, which successfully generated plasma in orbit.
The NMRC will focus on developing radiation-hard wide-bandgap power electronics materials, benefiting from microgravity conditions. This initiative aims to enhance the UK's space economy and semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
