Springfield Schools Propose $16.7M Geothermal HVAC Upgrade for Three Schools
The Springfield Board of Education is considering a $16.7 million proposal from Veregy LLC to replace HVAC systems at three schools. Federal rebates could reduce the cost to $11.7 million. The contract mirrors a previous $14 million project completed in 2023. The geothermal systems are expected to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.

The Springfield Board of Education is reviewing a proposal from Veregy LLC to install geothermal HVAC systems at Pittman and Truman elementary schools and Wilson's Creek Intermediate School, with a total cost of $16,653,383. Federal rebates could lower this to $11,657,383.
This proposal follows a similar project in 2023 where Veregy upgraded systems at three other schools for over $14 million, receiving around $4.2 million in rebates from the Inflation Reduction Act. If approved, the installation would occur during summer break, aiming for completion by August.
