StormFisher and CarbonLeap Collaborate on E-Methanol Project to Reduce Shipping Emissions
StormFisher Hydrogen and CarbonLeap have partnered to reduce scope 3 emissions for cargo owners in transatlantic shipping. StormFisher will supply RFNBO-certified e-methanol, which can cut carbon intensity by over 85%, while CarbonLeap will use a book-and-claim model to pool demand and allocate emissions reductions. This initiative aims to facilitate the transition to low-carbon marine fuels and make them more accessible and affordable for shipping companies facing stricter carbon reduction targets from the EU.

StormFisher Hydrogen and CarbonLeap have formed a partnership to aid cargo owners in reducing scope 3 emissions in transatlantic shipping. StormFisher will provide e-methanol produced at its Quebec facility, which is expected to cut lifecycle carbon intensity by more than 85%.
CarbonLeap will aggregate demand from cargo owners and finance the e-fuel premium through a book-and-claim model. This allows emissions reductions to be allocated to cargo owners regardless of the specific vessels used. The initiative addresses the growing pressure on shipping firms to meet stringent carbon reduction targets, particularly under EU regulations.
