STV Completes Design for First Six Substations in TriMet's Banfield Replacement Project
STV has finalized designs for six traction power substations as part of TriMet's Banfield Type 1 Substation Replacement Project in Portland, Oregon. The project received Issued for Construction approval, aiming to modernize infrastructure on the MAX Blue Line, with the original substations dating back to 1983. The 12-year program will enhance power equipment, reduce maintenance costs, and improve safety. Construction of the substations will start this year and run through 2028, with further designs for additional sites set to begin in July 2026.
