Suncheon City Implements Strategy to Attract RE100 Semiconductor National Industrial Complex Following New Law
Suncheon City is implementing a strategy to attract the RE100 semiconductor national industrial complex following the National Assembly's passage of the 'Special Act on Strengthening and Supporting the Competitiveness of the Semiconductor Industry.' Mayor Noh Kwan-kyu has directed relevant departments to focus on designating semiconductor clusters, building essential infrastructure, and providing financial and human resource support, anticipating that the law will significantly reshape the semiconductor industry's framework and location structure. The city plans to collaborate with experts to ensure the law's provisions are effectively integrated into regional growth strategies.

On January 29, the National Assembly passed the 'Special Act on Strengthening and Supporting the Competitiveness of the Semiconductor Industry', prompting Suncheon City to establish a proactive strategy to attract the RE100 semiconductor national industrial complex. Mayor Noh Kwan-kyu directed relevant departments to respond to the law, which includes provisions for designating semiconductor clusters, constructing essential infrastructure, and providing support for human resources and finance.
Suncheon anticipates the law will reshape the semiconductor industry's institutional framework and location structure. Key provisions include priority designations for semiconductor clusters and concurrent designations of special zones.
