On January 29, the National Assembly passed the 'Special Act on Strengthening and Supporting the Competitiveness of the Semiconductor Industry', prompting Suncheon City to establish a proactive strategy to attract the RE100 semiconductor national industrial complex. Mayor Noh Kwan-kyu directed relevant departments to respond to the law, which includes provisions for designating semiconductor clusters, constructing essential infrastructure, and providing support for human resources and finance.

Suncheon anticipates the law will reshape the semiconductor industry's institutional framework and location structure. Key provisions include priority designations for semiconductor clusters and concurrent designations of special zones.

Departments will work on cluster designation requirements, infrastructure plans, and strategies to attract related industries. The city will also monitor policies and collaborate with experts to integrate the law's effects into regional growth strategies.
