Swansea Council and Batri Ltd Sign Deal for Solar Farm to Support Tidal Lagoon Project
Swansea Council has partnered with Batri Ltd to develop a solar farm at the Tir John landfill site, generating approximately 3 MW of electricity. This initiative is part of a broader renewable energy program in Swansea, which includes plans for a tidal lagoon, floating solar installations, and a battery plant. The project aims to create thousands of jobs and position Swansea as a leader in renewable energy.

A deal between Swansea Council and Batri Ltd will transform the Tir John landfill site into a solar farm, generating around 3 megawatts of electricity. This solar hub is the first step in a larger renewable energy initiative that aims to include a tidal lagoon, floating solar panels, and a battery facility.
The project, which has been under discussion for over a decade, intends to create thousands of jobs and stimulate the local economy. The solar farm will be privately funded, incurring no costs to taxpayers. With planning in place, work may soon commence on this ambitious energy plan for Swansea.
