Synopsys Advocates Ecosystem Approach for ISM 2.0 in India
Synopsys emphasizes that the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 should focus on ecosystem development to enhance the domestic electronics industry. The initiative is backed by a provisional budget of ₹1,000 crore for FY27, aimed at strengthening India's design capabilities and supply chains.

Synopsys recommends that ISM 2.0 be viewed as an ecosystem initiative rather than merely a collection of incentives, stressing that success relies on orchestrating the ecosystem effectively. The Indian government is set to launch the ISM 2.0 program with a provisional allocation of ₹1,000 crore for FY27 to enhance production and design capabilities.
Additionally, the electronic components manufacturing scheme (ECMS) has a planned budget increase to ₹40,000 crore. Synopsys currently supports over 315 Indian institutions with EDA tools as part of various initiatives.
The company highlights a significant talent gap in deep-technology areas, impacting advanced semiconductor development. With rising business in sectors like automotive and AI, Synopsys views India as a growing center for research and innovation.
