Syria Initiates Rehabilitation of Conoco Gas Field Near Deir ez-Zor
Mine clearing at the Conoco gas field is underway to restore operations and repair infrastructure. This effort is critical as the field has been out of service, impacting regional energy production.

The Syrian Petroleum Company has started mine clearing at the Conoco gas field in Deir ez-Zor province, a preliminary step toward rehabilitating the field's damaged infrastructure. Following mine clearance, maintenance operations will address the existing damage.
The Conoco field, significant for hosting Syria's largest gas processing plant, has been completely destroyed and out of service since US forces vacated the base in April 2025. Production from Syrian oil fields has dramatically decreased from 350,000 barrels per day in 2013 to approximately 110,000 barrels per day currently. The rehabilitation of the Conoco gas field is essential for restoring energy supplies in the region, particularly given its historical output of 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day before the conflict.
