Taiwan Launches Quantum Technology Office to Boost Industry Development
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs has launched a new office to advance quantum technology, positioning it as a key innovation sector following AI. The initiative aims to enhance industry collaboration, attract global investment, and facilitate domestic firm participation in quantum computing.

The launch of Taiwan's new quantum technology office is aimed at integrating resources from industry, academia, and research institutions to foster early-stage development in the sector. The office plans to lower barriers for local companies, attract foreign firms, and enhance international partnerships, with potential investments from two to three corporations estimated at NT$100 million (US$3.18 million) each.
Taiwan already holds significant capabilities in qubit manufacturing and semiconductor processes, which are crucial for practical quantum computing applications. The ministry anticipates that the collaboration between public and private sectors will transition Taiwan into a leading quantum industry hub, enhancing its semiconductor strengths and securing a competitive global position.
