Taiwanese Investments in US Manufacturing and Pharmaceuticals Increase
Taiwanese companies are set to invest $250 billion in US production, significantly impacting semiconductor and pharmaceutical sectors. This investment is part of a broader strategy to enhance US-Taiwan economic relations amid evolving global trade dynamics.

During the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland, Taiwanese firms plan to invest $250 billion in U.S. production, with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. committing $165 billion for factories in Arizona. PharmaEssentia Corporation will invest $46 million to establish a manufacturing subsidiary in Puerto Rico, supporting U.S. manufacturing and supply security, with operations projected to begin in 2027.
The investment aligns with a broader strategy to strengthen U.S.-Taiwan economic ties while responding to shifting global supply chains. Taiwan's interest in Puerto Rico extends to semiconductor manufacturing, highlighting the island's potential as a strategic hub for high-tech operations.
