Taiwan's Economic Minister Visits US for Investment Forum
Taiwan's Minister of Economic Affairs is traveling to the US to attend a significant investment forum. Taiwanese firms are set to invest $250 billion to enhance semiconductor and AI production in the US, underscoring a strategic economic partnership.

Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-hsin is visiting the US to participate in the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland, which runs from Sunday to Wednesday. This delegation is expected to be the largest from Taiwan, reflecting substantial interest from Taiwanese companies in the US market.
Following a January agreement to reduce tariffs on semiconductor exports, Taiwanese firms will invest $250 billion in US production capabilities, including $165 billion by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co for new factories in Arizona. Other companies, such as Foxconn Technology Group and GlobalWafers, are also planning increased investments. This strategic engagement could strengthen US-Taiwan economic ties but also poses competitive risks in the global semiconductor landscape.
