Thirteen Companies Form Active Copper Cable Multi-Source Agreement to Standardize Interconnect Solutions
Thirteen industry leaders, including AMD and Cisco, have established the Active Copper Cable Multi-Source Agreement (ACC-MSA) to define specifications for interoperable Active Copper Cable solutions. The focus is on enhancing copper interconnects using integrated linear equalizers to improve power efficiency, cost, and latency. The ACC-MSA aims to create a multi-source ecosystem that boosts industry-wide adoption of next-generation copper connectivity.

The Active Copper Cable Multi-Source Agreement (ACC-MSA) has been formed by thirteen global leaders in networking, semiconductors, and cabling, including AMD and Cisco. The consortium aims to define specifications to improve power efficiency, cost, and latency of high-speed copper interconnects.
The initial focus is on optimized copper interconnects with integrated linear equalizers, setting standards for electrical, firmware, and testing requirements to ensure compatibility among multiple vendors. This initiative is expected to significantly extend the reach of copper cables while decreasing thickness and power consumption.
