Three Chinese Firms Ranked in Global Top 20 Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers in 2025
In 2025, three Chinese firms—Naura Technology Group, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc China (AMEC), and Shanghai Microelectronics Equipment Co Ltd—ranked among the top 20 global semiconductor equipment manufacturers, reflecting China's growing capabilities in the sector. Naura rose to fifth place, AMEC debuted at 13th with advanced etching technology, and Shanghai Microelectronics secured the 20th position. Despite this progress, experts highlight a persistent technological gap, particularly in lithography, amidst a projected $133 billion market for chipmaking equipment in China.

In 2025, three Chinese semiconductor equipment manufacturers, Naura Technology Group, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc China (AMEC), and Shanghai Microelectronics Equipment Co Ltd, ranked among the world's top 20 by sales, according to Global Net. Naura climbed from eighth in 2022 to fifth, while AMEC entered the list at 13th with advanced etching technology used for 5-nanometer chips.
Shanghai Microelectronics secured the 20th position, highlighting China's capabilities in lithography machines. Despite this progress, experts note a technological gap remains, particularly in lithography.
The collective rise of these firms is seen as a response to US export controls, with China's market for chipmaking equipment projected to reach $133 billion in 2025. Suntime estimates Naura's revenue for 2025 to be between 46.8 and 52 billion yuan ($6.74 billion-$7.49 billion).
