Towngas, Sinopec, and Sinopec Star Sign MoU for Hydrogen and Green Fuel Initiatives in Hong Kong
Towngas, Sinopec (Hong Kong) Limited, and Sinopec Star have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on hydrogen, green methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel initiatives in Hong Kong. The partnership aims to enhance hydrogen infrastructure, including refuelling stations and storage technologies, in support of Hong Kong's energy transition and carbon neutrality goals. Towngas produces over 12,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually and plans to expand local green hydrogen supply through a landfill facility.

Towngas, Sinopec (Hong Kong) Limited, and Sinopec Star have established a strategic partnership through a signed memorandum of understanding to advance hydrogen and green fuel initiatives in Hong Kong. The collaboration will focus on hydrogen business development, constructing refuelling stations, liquid hydrogen storage, and green methanol shipping applications.
Towngas currently has an annual hydrogen production capacity exceeding 12,000 tonnes and aims to enhance local green hydrogen supply. The companies plan to explore a joint venture to consolidate resources for accelerating project delivery, supporting Hong Kong's energy transition and the national dual carbon strategy.
