Towngas to Establish Green Methanol Production Facility in Foshan
Towngas will build a green methanol plant in Foshan, enhancing its production capacity to 500,000 mt/year by 2028. This initiative supports Hong Kong's marine fuel bunkering ambitions and contributes to shipping decarbonization efforts.

Towngas, through its joint venture VENEX, plans to construct a green methanol plant in Foshan, Guangdong. The facility will utilize sugar cane bagasse and wood processing waste as feedstock, employing biomass gasification technology.
The first operational phase is set for 2028, with an initial capacity of 200,000 mt/year, contributing to the company's goal of reaching 500,000 mt/year by the same year. This project, along with the existing Inner Mongolia plant, will create a dual-production network across China, facilitating a robust marine fuel supply and supporting decarbonization in the shipping industry. The development signifies a strategic shift towards sustainable fuel alternatives in the region.
