Tsuneishi Solutions Launches First Commercial Methanol Fuel Supply System
Tsuneishi Solutions has deployed its inaugural methanol fuel supply system for bulk carriers, marking a step toward cleaner shipping. The system received Approval in Principle from ClassNK, positioning Tsuneishi to capitalize on the growing demand for alternative marine fuels.

Tsuneishi Solutions has completed the first commercial deployment of its methanol fuel supply system, designed for Kamsarmax bulk carriers. This system, engineered for medium- and low-speed diesel engines, was certified by ClassNK in April 2024, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards for low-flashpoint fuels.
The domestic manufacturing model, utilizing components sourced from Japanese suppliers, enhances logistical efficiency and reduces commissioning challenges. As the maritime sector shifts toward decarbonization, the demand for methanol-powered vessels is expected to rise, potentially impacting global methanol pricing and stimulating investments in the methanol supply chain. The increasing focus on sustainable marine technologies may soften demand for conventional marine fuels over time.
