Turkey Expands Defense Network with Brazil Agreement Amid Global Arms Strategy
Turkey has signed nearly 100 defense cooperation agreements under President Erdogan, enhancing its global arms sales and technology transfer. The recent deal with Brazil exemplifies Turkey's strategy to embed its defense sector in international markets, facilitating joint production and exports.

Turkey's defense industry has secured nearly 100 bilateral cooperation agreements, significantly expanding its global arms market presence. The latest agreement with Brazil, pending parliamentary ratification since January 16, 2026, aims to foster joint production and technology-sharing arrangements, showcasing Ankara's strategic approach to defense exports.
This framework allows Turkish companies to access Brazil's defense ecosystem, enhancing their capabilities and creating pathways for joint exports to third countries. Centralized under the Presidency of the Defense Industry (SSB), these agreements streamline political and legal processes, promoting rapid international market penetration. The model raises concerns about the concentration of defense contracts among Erdogan's associates, potentially limiting competition and innovation.
