Uganda Aims to Triple Aviation Capacity and Boost Sustainable Fuel Production by 2030
Uganda's aviation sector aims to triple passenger capacity and unlock over 300 million liters of sustainable fuel potential by 2030. This growth is supported by infrastructure upgrades and 64 international air service agreements.
From January to November 2025, international passenger traffic at Entebbe International Airport reached 2.247 million, surpassing the entire 2024 total. The government is accelerating airport upgrades, including the new Passenger Terminal Building at Entebbe, which will increase capacity from 2 million to 3.5 million passengers annually starting January 2026.
Uganda is also moving towards sustainable aviation, having completed a feasibility study indicating significant potential for Sustainable Aviation Fuel production. Despite challenges such as inadequate funding, the sector is preparing for major international aviation events and aims to enhance service standards as it advances its regulatory framework.
