U.K. Seeks Input on Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Emissions Trading Scheme
The U.K. Department of Energy Security and Net Zero has initiated a comment period for stakeholders regarding sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) treatment under the Emissions Trading Scheme. This engagement is critical as the industry seeks to align with emissions reduction goals.

On March 23, the U.K. Department of Energy Security and Net Zero opened a public comment period for stakeholder input on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) within the U.K. Emissions Trading Scheme.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is anticipated to significantly impact the biofuels sector, potentially establishing ethanol and biodiesel as the lowest carbon liquid fuels available. The upcoming Carbon Capture & Storage Summit will discuss the economics, necessary infrastructure, and financial implications of CCS for biofuel producers. The successful integration of CCS could enhance market competitiveness for biofuels.
