Ukraine Intensifies Recruitment of Foreign Volunteers Amid Ongoing Conflict
Ukraine's recruitment efforts for foreign volunteers, including Nigerians, reflect the need to address combat attrition in the ongoing war with Russia. The campaign, featuring drone pilot Amos Ndubuisi Ugwu, aims to attract specialized skills to bolster military capabilities.

The Ukrainian government is ramping up its recruitment of foreign volunteers, particularly targeting skilled individuals like Nigerian drone pilot Amos Ndubuisi Ugwu, known as 'Cobra,' who serves in the 28th Brigade. The campaign, promoted through the #JoinUArmy initiative, highlights the need for specialized skills to mitigate high attrition rates in the conflict with Russia.
Ugwu operates 'Vampire' drones, which are used for night missions against Russian forces. Meanwhile, concerns are rising in Africa, where several governments report their citizens being misled into joining foreign conflicts. Reports indicate that many individuals, including from Zimbabwe and Kenya, have been deceived by fraudulent recruitment schemes, raising issues of exploitation and safety for potential recruits.
