UNC Extends Deadline for Missing Naga Hostages to May 17 Amid Ongoing Search Operations
The United Naga Council has extended its deadline to May 17 to locate six Naga hostages held by Kuki groups. This follows state assurances of ongoing search operations involving multiple security forces.

The United Naga Council (UNC) has set a new deadline of 6:00 PM on May 17 to locate six Naga men who remain missing since a May 13 ambush in Kangpokpi district. Following the abduction of 20 Naga civilians from Leilon Vaiphei village, the state police, Indian Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) initiated joint rescue operations.
The extension was formalized after the Manipur Home Department informed the UNC of ongoing search efforts involving district administration and police. Tensions remain high, prompting the Naga People's Organisation to advise against travel on the Senapati-Imphal road. Continued operations may impact local security dynamics and community safety.
