U.S. Army Reserve Advances Robotic Mule Development Through Soldier Feedback Study
The 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command has concluded a research project to enhance the Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (SMET) system. This initiative, conducted from May to October 2025, aims to refine requirements for SMET Increment 2 based on Soldier feedback and operational needs.

The study focused on Soldier interactions with SMET Increment 1 to identify valuable capabilities and areas for improvement. Conducted via a structured methodology, the research included unit outreach, usage-based segmentation, and survey development, ensuring broad representation across active duty, National Guard, and Army Reserve components.
The findings will inform the next generation of the platform, ensuring alignment with real-world operational needs. This data-driven approach could significantly influence future acquisition decisions and enhance operational effectiveness in contested environments.
