US$1.6 Billion Ammonia Plant in Sinaloa to Begin Operations by 2027
The Gas y Petroquimica de Occidente ammonia plant in Sinaloa is 88% complete and set to start operations by 2027, with a total investment of US$1.6 billion. The facility aims to produce 2,200 metric tons of anhydrous ammonia, enhancing local fertilizer production and generating significant employment.

The Gas y Petroquimica de Occidente ammonia plant in Sinaloa is nearing completion, currently at 88%, with operations expected to commence by 2027. The plant will produce 2,200 metric tons of anhydrous ammonia, aiming to decrease reliance on imported fertilizers.
This project, with a total investment of US$1.6 billion, is projected to create 10,000 jobs and involve 7,000 suppliers and local businesses. Additionally, an investment of US$456,000 is anticipated by early 2027, including US$86,000 for ongoing enhancements. Vocational training initiatives for women are also being implemented in partnership with ICATSIN, with 2,885 women trained in technical skills.
