USACE Completes Greenhouse Upgrades for USDA in Oregon
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has finalized the upgrade of greenhouse facilities for the USDA's Agricultural Research Service in Oregon. This collaboration enhances crop research capabilities, supporting biodiversity and resilience in agriculture.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) completed upgrades to the Agricultural Research Service's (ARS) greenhouse facilities in Corvallis, Oregon, on March 27, 2026. The project involved 35,000 square feet of modernized greenhouses and screenhouses, facilitating research on approximately 12,000 plants from nearly 700 species.
This partnership aims to preserve crop diversity and breed disease-resistant varieties. USACE provided comprehensive support, including planning and construction oversight, emphasizing collaboration to meet ARS’s scientific needs. The project is expected to have widespread implications for agricultural research nationwide, enhancing the capacity to identify genetic traits beneficial for specialty crops.
