Uzbekistan and Malaysia Sign Agreement to Develop Semiconductor Industry
A significant memorandum was signed between Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance and Malaysia's MIMOS Berhad to enhance the semiconductor sector. This partnership aims to advance high technologies and integrate Uzbekistan into global value chains, with a projected global semiconductor market exceeding $1 trillion by 2026.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance and MIMOS Berhad of Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the semiconductor industry, which is expected to transform Uzbekistan's economy. This agreement, formalized in June 2025, includes initiatives for advanced technology introduction, national semiconductor system formation, and specialist training.
The global semiconductor market is forecasted to exceed $1 trillion in 2026, highlighting the sector's growth potential. The collaboration aims to enhance industrial investment and global competitiveness, reflecting a strategic shift towards a high-value-added economy.
