Varma to Implement Geothermal Heating in 36 Residential Buildings to Reduce CO2 Emissions by 48%
Varma, a leading Finnish pension company, is replacing heating systems in 36 apartment buildings, targeting a 48% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2023. This project is part of their broader commitment to fossil-free heating by 2030.
LeaseGreen will implement geothermal heating and solar panels as part of the overhaul. Varma's real estate portfolio is valued at €3.8 billion, encompassing 61 buildings with around 4,000 flats. The initiative aims for carbon neutrality by 2035, focusing on energy efficiency and sustainable solutions.
Varma's previous partnership with LeaseGreen involved reducing energy consumption at their Elisa Oyj headquarters by 40%. The project is expected to yield significant cost savings and enhance property value.
