Verkade Carbon Capture Expands CO₂ Capture Technology to Aluminum and Agriculture Sectors
Verkade Carbon Capture, based in Wateringen, is advancing CO₂ capture technology initially developed for greenhouse agriculture. The company has implemented projects in aluminum production abroad and is applying a spin-off of its CO₂ capture technology to biogas production at dairy and pig farms in the Netherlands. The integration of CO₂ capture with existing agricultural systems aims to reuse heat and reduce costs. New projects are expected to start in 2026, with a focus on enhancing sustainability in agriculture and other sectors.

Verkade Carbon Capture, originating from a Canadian grower, has developed CO₂ capture technology over the past 15 years, starting with a facility in Wateringen. The company is now deploying its system in aluminum production and testing its application in biogas generation at Dutch farms.
CO₂ capture involves using a solvent to extract CO₂, with a focus on energy efficiency to minimize costs. The company anticipates that increasing CO₂ prices will enhance the feasibility of investments in CO₂ capture systems. New projects in aluminum production and biogas upgrades are set to launch in 2026, aiming to integrate CO₂ capture into existing agricultural frameworks.
